Up and down wall light glowing on the VJ panelling in an Abbotsford home

Wall light installation completed in Abbotsford

Alyson got in touch while renovating her home in Abbotsford, in Sydney’s Inner West. Part of the renovation was a new feature wall finished in VJ panelling, and she wanted a pair of wall lights on it to frame the artwork.

The timing mattered. Once the panelling was up, there would be no easy way to get new cabling behind it. So we visited before the carpenter started, confirmed the light positions with Alyson, and ran the cabling to each point while the wall was still open. We also worked with the carpenter on the size of each cut-out, so the lights and switches would line up neatly with the panel layout.

On the same visit, we installed new power points in the upstairs office, moved two light switches and fitted a new light in the stairwell.

Once the wall was built and painted, we came back to fit the wall lights, replace the switches and power point on the panelling, and install the air conditioning controller. While we were there, we also carried out an upgrade to the switchboard, which Alyson had been planning since our first visit.

With the work complete, Alyson’s feature wall has its lights exactly where she wanted them, with no visible cabling or patched panels, and the home has an updated switchboard to go with the renovation.
