Professional appliance installation for homes & businesses

Modern appliances require correct wiring and dedicated circuits to perform at their best. We install ovens, cooktops, air conditioners, hot water systems, and other electrical appliances with precise workmanship and clear attention to safety.

Experienced in older home electrical systems

Many Inner West homes need circuit checks or switchboard upgrades before installing new appliances. We assess your existing electrical setup, recommend any necessary improvements, and complete the installation with clean, dependable results.

Straightforward swap or new circuit, we handle both

A straightforward swap onto an existing circuit is usually quick and simple. Installing an appliance that needs its own dedicated circuit, like an induction cooktop replacing gas, takes more work and a proper assessment first. Either way, we confirm what's involved before quoting, not after we've started.

Why choose MPS Electrical for your appliance installation?

FAQs

Common questions about electrical services in the inner west of Sydney

Do I need an electrician to install a new oven or cooktop?

Yes. Ovens and cooktops are hardwired appliances, so installation is fixed electrical work that legally requires a licensed electrician, who will issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work on completion.

How much does appliance installation cost?

A straightforward swap onto an existing circuit typically costs $200 to $300. If a new dedicated circuit is needed, such as for an induction cooktop replacing gas, this usually runs $600 to $1,000. We'll confirm which applies and give you a fixed price before starting.

Why does an induction cooktop cost more to install than a straight swap?

Induction cooktops draw significantly more power than a standard electric cooktop, so they need their own dedicated circuit rather than sharing one. If your kitchen doesn't already have a suitable circuit, we need to run a new one from the switchboard, which is more work than connecting to what's already there.

Do you disconnect gas appliances as part of the installation?

No. Gas disconnection has to be done by a licensed gasfitter, which is a separate trade from electrical work. If you're switching from gas to electric, we handle the electrical side and can point you to the gas side, but we can't do both under one licence.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade before installing a new appliance?

Sometimes. Older Inner West homes can have switchboards without enough capacity or spare circuit space for a power hungry appliance. We check this as part of every quote, so you know upfront rather than partway through the job.
