Switchboard Upgrade - Dulwich Hill
During a site inspection at Mark’s apartment in Dulwich Hill, we found that the electrical switchboard did not have safety switches installed. This meant the apartment’s circuits were missing an important level of protection against electrical faults and electric shock.
The existing switchboard was outdated, so we recommended completing a full upgrade rather than making small changes to the old equipment. This would allow every circuit in the apartment to receive modern protection and leave Mark with a safer, more reliable electrical setup.
We disconnected and removed the existing switchboard equipment before installing new Type A RCBOs across all sub-circuits. Each RCBO provides both circuit protection and safety switch protection, so a fault on one circuit can be isolated without unnecessarily affecting the rest of the apartment.
Once the new equipment had been installed, we tested each circuit and confirmed the safety switches were operating correctly. The circuits were also clearly arranged and labelled, making the new switchboard easier to understand and maintain in the future.
Mark’s apartment now has modern safety switches protecting every sub-circuit. The upgrade has brought the electrical protection up to current requirements and provided a much safer switchboard arrangement for the apartment.
