Induction cooktop and oven replacement completed in Strathfield
Ross and Mariam wanted to replace the original oven and coil cooktop in their unit in Strathfield, in Sydney’s Inner West, with a new oven and an induction cooktop. Before quoting, we arranged a visit to look over the kitchen.
Induction cooktops can draw more power than the coil cooktops they replace, so the first step was checking the existing setup. After looking at both new appliances and the wiring already in place, we confirmed the oven and cooktop could both run on the existing circuits. That meant no new cabling was needed through the unit. We also recommended upgrading the switchboard at the same time.
The main visit was booked on a day Ross worked from home. We removed the old oven and installed the new one as part of the oven installation, and took the old appliance away for recycling. We also upgraded the unit’s switchboard, replacing the old board with a new main switch and safety switch protection on every circuit.
When it came to the cooktop, there wasn’t enough clearance between it and the new oven to install it safely. Rather than force it in, we left it for a second visit. Ross and Mariam had their kitchen cabinetry modified to make room.
Once the joinery was finished, we came back to fit the induction cooktop into the new bench. We connected it to the existing circuit and tested it with the oven to make sure both were working correctly. A certificate of compliance was issued for the work.
With the work complete, Ross and Mariam have a new oven and induction cooktop that fit properly together, on a switchboard with modern safety protection throughout.
