Freestanding cooker installation completed in Stanmore
Hayden was switching his kitchen from gas to electric and had chosen a large freestanding cooker for his terrace in Stanmore, in Sydney’s Inner West, with an induction cooktop on top and an oven underneath. A cooker like that needs more power than the house had available, so the first step was a three-phase power upgrade.
Before we could hook up the cooker, we upgraded the home’s single-phase supply to a three-phase supply. That meant running new mains to the house, upgrading the metering, and upgrading the safety protection to suit the new supply.
The house was already finished, so getting the new power through to the kitchen meant a tricky cable run through the terrace without damaging the walls and ceilings. We had a carpenter cut neat access panels with flush finger pulls. They gave us a clean way through for the cabling, sit almost flush with the finished surfaces, and can still be opened later if anything needs to be reached.
With the three-phase supply in place, we connected the cooker on a new circuit with safety switch protection, ready for Hayden to start cooking.
Hayden was also building a new bar area in another room of the house, and we wired it up. We installed new power points for the bar and wired the LED strip lighting built into the shelving, which lights up the bottles and glassware.
Hayden now has his new cooker running on three-phase power, and a bar that’s ready to use.
