DC ceiling fan with integrated light on an ornate ceiling

Ceiling Fan Installation in Concord West

Lisa first had us at her Concord West home, in Sydney’s Inner West, in late 2025, when we replaced a ceiling fan and updated the lighting in her kitchen and dining area. This year she got in touch again with a few more jobs. The main one was the ceiling fan in her bedroom. The light built into the existing fan had broken, and she wanted to replace the whole fitting with a new fan and light.

During our visit, we removed the old fan and checked the ceiling mounting and existing wiring to make sure they were suitable for the new fitting. Once we were satisfied, we installed the new ceiling fan, secured it in place and tested every speed setting and the light. The new fan is a DC model, which runs quietly and uses very little power, a good fit for a bedroom.

Lisa also mentioned a problem in the laundry. The power kept tripping whenever several appliances were running at once. The laundry was sharing a circuit that couldn’t handle that much load at the same time. Rather than continuing to reset it, the better fix was to give the laundry its own supply. We ran a new dedicated laundry circuit from the switchboard, protected by its own safety switch, and connected the existing laundry power points to it.

While we were there, we also updated the smoke alarms. We replaced the existing alarm and added a second one, both wired into the home’s power with a long-life backup battery. The two alarms are linked, so if one detects smoke, both sound.

With the work complete, Lisa has a working fan and light in the bedroom again, a laundry that runs her appliances without tripping, and smoke alarms that warn the whole house. Everything was tested before we left, and a certificate of compliance was issued for the work. If you are thinking about a ceiling fan or similar electrical work in Concord West, we can look at what is already there and talk you through the options.
